A Few Communication Reminders

     1. Give the person time to respond.
     2. Reduce background distractions.
     3. Try writing, gestures, pictures, or technology when helpful.
     4. Speak directly to the person.
     5. Communication difficulty does not mean someone has lost their intelligence.
