Kari Hoeft

Meet Kari Hoeft, our Vice President and Treasurer. Kari brings over 17 years of leadership experience in both the for-profit and non-profit sectors. Currently, Kari is a Project Manager for Growth Integration at World Insurance. Before World Insurance, Kari co-owned an insurance agency, where she learned the value of organizations having a strategic plan but also the skill and culture to adapt and embrace the change organizations continually face. Kari is committed to her community, actively participates in local organizations, and believes service is essential for the pathway to meaningful change. She is dedicated to leveraging her experience and energy to foster environments where organizations and people can thrive to contribute to community development and improvement. Kari is currently working on her Doctorate in Interdisciplinary Leadership through Creighton.

Denise Gorski MHA, BSN, RN

Denise Gorski is the Neuroscience Clinical Programs, Quality and Accreditation Manager for Nebraska Medicine. Denise provides leadership and oversight of neuroscience clinical program development, implementation, and quality of services. Her work includes certified program and telehealth activities such as the Comprehensive Stroke Center, Acute Telestroke, and teleneurology programs. Serving as a liaison between the health system and the academic department, Denise assists with strategic planning and visioning for development and expansion of neuroscience programs and services through a unified neuroscience market strategy. Denise holds leadership responsibilities with the Nebraska State Stroke Task Force and is a past president and board member of the Nebraska Stroke Association.

Anna Moormeier BSN, RN

With a rich background in both clinical nursing and successful medical device entrepreneurship, Anna has grown a diverse range of skills throughout her career. She is a passionate clinician with a knack for breaking down complex disease states in a way that patients and families can understand. The executive director role allows her to apply the full range of these skills to thrive in an environment that demands product mastery, team accountability, positive patient outcomes, and deep customer relationships with NSA.

Stacie Christensen PT, DPT

Stacie Christensen is an Assistant Professor in the Physical Therapy Program at the University of Nebraska Medical Center on the Kearney campus. She is a board-certified clinical specialist in neurologic physical therapy, a certified stroke rehabilitation specialist, and a certified brain injury specialist. She brings 18 years of clinical experience to her work, including 12 years in full-time inpatient rehabilitation, and continues to practice regularly in inpatient rehabilitation, acute care, and ICU settings.

Stacie is passionate about improving care for patients with stroke and supporting their recovery across the continuum, from acute hospitalization through rehabilitation and community reintegration. Her work spans clinical practice, physical therapy education, and statewide stroke education and advocacy. She has contributed to Nebraska stroke initiatives related to rehabilitation, discharge planning, and interprofessional education, and she is committed to advancing collaborative, patient-centered stroke care across the state.

Matthew Trummer

Matthew is the Director of Security in Manufacturing and a retiring Cyber Squadron Commander (Major) in the United States Air Force. Following a remarkable 100% recovery from a stroke in January, Matthew is deeply dedicated to serving on the Board of Directors for the Nebraska Stroke Association. He combines over two decades of technical leadership with his personal recovery journey to expand digital outreach and critical-access hospital resource networks in rural communities.

Alyssa Schmidt

Alyssa Schmidt is a speech-language pathologist, lecturer, and clinical educator at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Barkley Speech Language and Hearing Clinic.
Her professional experience includes inpatient, outpatient, rehabilitation, and school-based care, with a special focus on improving dysphagia management. Alyssa also supports future speech-language pathologists through graduate student supervision.
Outside of her professional work, she volunteers with Domesti-PUPS, Horses for Healing Nebraska, and serves as a Master Gardener.
We are grateful for Alyssa’s expertise, compassion, and commitment to improving the lives of stroke survivors and families across Nebraska.
