Stroke Rehabilitation & Recovery

The American Heart Association and American Stroke Association released updated 2026 Guidelines for Adult Stroke Rehabilitation and Recovery, with recommendations covering rehabilitation programs, assessment, cognition and communication, medical management, transitions of care, and community rehabilitation.

  • The American Heart Association's Get With The Guidelines – Stroke program helps hospitals use evidence-based guidelines, performance data, benchmarking, and quality-improvement tools to strengthen stroke care.

    The program also supports stroke certification, state-designation requirements, reporting, continuing education, and recognition programs.

  • AHA also provides live and on-demand quality-improvement education for stroke professionals
